Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has praised his team for having the ability to stick to a game plan and to know their individual roles in the team’s mission.
So often NFL success comes down to the leadership of a team’s quarterback and his ability to marshal the troops around the field but, for Kelly, each individual has a role and successful teams rely on the collective group sticking to the game plan rather than one outstanding individual.
According to the bet365 website, he said: “I don’t think it’s a situation where you have a great team and not a good team, it’s that you’ve got a bunch of guys that understand what the mission is,” he said.
For Kelly, who took over as Head Coach at the Eagles for the start of this season, the mark of a great team is not necessarily one that wins games comfortably but one that thrives in adversity and he is trying to build a squad that is calm under pressure.
“I think they all know what to do and I think that’s a credit to what this team is in terms of us moving forward,” the 50 year old said.
“We’ve got a bunch of guys that understand what we need to do and what we need to get accomplished,” he added confidently.
Sunday’s win against the Arizona Cardinals extended the Eagles winning run to four games and they currently sit in second place, just behind Dallas Cowboys, in the NFC East. The Eagles made the last of their two Superbowl appearances back in 2005 and, if Kelly can continue to motivate his side then they will stand a chance of returning this year.
The Eagles are currently 33/1 with Bet365 to win the Superbowl and although they may be unfancied at the moment, these odds are bound to come in if the winning streak continues.
