Sole Power is a horse that is proving to be a real talent and when looking at his next race – the July Cup at Newmarket – you might think he is cracking value to come out on top at 10/1 with BetVictor.
We last saw this gelding winning the King’s Stand Stakes, which is of course one of the most prestigious races that the famous festival has to offer, so the fact he is only a contender, rather than a front-runner right now seems strange.
Much of it could be to do with the fact that he runs over the distance of six furlongs for the first time, rather than five, which is where he has looked most comfortable over the last year of so.
That said though, the gelding has shown he is an extremely strong finisher and the extra furlong might even suit him as he is often at full speed when reaching the finish the line.
Sole Power came right from the back of the field when winning the King’s Stand Stakes and it was a superb ride from Jonny Murtagh, who will be on board the horse once more in the July Cup.
Murtagh is showing he is a man made for the big occasion and he is sure to be looking for a similar performance from the horse he is going to partner in this trip.
Of course, this is going to be the toughest race for Sole Power so far as the field is extremely talented, but there is no reason to suggest why he cannot come out on top and show he is one of the most talented sprinters around.
Another horse that might prove to be popular in the terms of horse racing bets is Shea Shea, who was denied so agonisingly on the line by Sole Power in the King’s Stand Stakes.
This should be a cracking contest with so much talent on show.
