On His Own looking good for Grand National

We are just over five weeks away from the 2013 John Smith’s Grand National taking place and the field looks as though it is full of quality.

On His Own is being considered as the favourite over at BetVictor as he is a 10/1 shot to claim Horse Racing’s showpiece.

Willie Mullins is the man that trains On His Own, so it is no surprise that he is one of the front-runners given the talent of the trainer.

The pair look as though they are capable of forming a winning partnership and as ever, preparation is key if the horse is to live up to expectation.

Mullins has a lot of experience in National Hunt racing and he is likely to make all the right decisions ahead of the race on April 6. There is a fine line between a horse being in good form and fatigued and only the best trainers know how to send them into a race in the best possible shape.

On His Own fell in the Grand National last year and his trainer will be doing all he can to make sure something like that doesn’t happen again. However, sometimes, you cannot do anything about a fall.

The nine-year-old had a win at Navan in a Grade Two event in his first appearance for the season last week and not many were expecting him to come out on top.

It was only his second appearance over hurdles and he managed to beat some very experienced jumpers and it is a big reason for him leading the way in terms of the Grand National odds.

Mullins seems to have a few plans for where he might be heading in his preparation race ahead of Aintree, but he wants to give him a run over fences this time out.

It looks as though On His Own is in fine form and he could be ready to win the biggest race that horse racing has to offer.

It will of course be tough to win as the race is one of the most demanding on the circuit, but Willie Mullins is sure to be confident.
