Nadal Climbs to the Top Despite Final Defeat

Rafael Nadal ended the China Open final as runner-up following his loss to Novak Djokovic. However, the Spaniard will have ended the night with the bigger smile on his face, after his first loss in a match since June was not enough to stop him ending the tournament at the top of the world rankings.

Since that loss at Wimbledon – a shock defeat at the hands of world number 135, Steve Darcis – Nadal has put his injury worries firmly behind him, winning in Montreal and Cincinatti on his way to the US Open title.

This excellent run of form meant that, on Monday, he regained his spot at the top of the ATP ranking system for the first time since July 2011.

With the season-ending ATP World Finals coming up in November, Nadal will be looking to end his sensational 2013 with another title to his name. The Spaniard will go into the final tournament just behind Djokovic with bookmakers; that has to be of interest to anybody looking at placing a bet on tennis on the bet365 website.

Nadal has shown he is playing some of the best tennis of his career after returning to action following his injury lay-off of seven months.

Having won 65 of his 69 matches this year, Nadal will also be confident of continuing his fine run of form, and fans of tennis betting can keep in touch with all the latest odds with bet365 as he bids to do just that.

Djokovic may be the defending champion but it is Nadal who will go into this year’s ATP Tour Finals in the sort of form that makes it hard to see how anybody can touch the Spaniard at the moment.
